Transfer Special : Manchester City complete Otamendi signing.

Nicolas Otamendi, a long term target for both the Manchester sides, United and City is finally said to have a deal agreed with Manchester City. The Argentine international will flew out to England and was officially announced as the club player on Thursday.

City have signed Otamendi for a reported fee of 28.5 Million Pounds. Otamendi would be an ideal signing for the Eastlands club as they are looking to take their defence to a whole new level. Mangala, who was roped in by City from Porto last summer for a hefty fee of 40 Million Pounds, was expected to go out.
Getting in Otamendi in place of last season’s flop Mangala is a wise move because the versatility of the Argentine defender is something that attracted a heavy bid from City and was also the centre of attraction for the other Manchester side.
After a fine season with Valencia where he made 25 appearances for the La Liga outfit and making it to the World Cup and Copa America finals in the past couple of seasons, the 27 year old would be hoping for more success to come following his move to City.
Though the sky blues started the season off with 2 great performances, (3-0 victories over West Brom and Chelsea, the defending champions), City may not be in need for a defender yet. Yet, the addition of a player like Otamendi will bring an improved change to their defence which was criticised last year. Captain Vincent Kompany was under scrutiny for his inability on the field, but has proved to be one of the best in the back four after 2 games.
Nicolas Otamendi may be the needed jigsaw piece in Manuel Pellegrini’s side that will take them closer to the league title. Bringing in Otamendi after a great start will be a big boost to the Manchester City.
